3 Hour MA SAFE Review of Massachusetts Mortgage Law addresses the laws in Massachusetts that regulate mortgage loan originators, brokers, and lenders. In Module 1, students will spend 30 minutes reviewing licensing requirements for mortgage loan originators, mortgage brokers, and mortgage lenders. In addition, students will spend 60 minutes reviewing provisions of Massachusetts law related to consumer protection, including advertising, fees and charges, refinancing in the borrower’s interest, and unfair or deceptive acts or practices. In Module 2, students will spend the first 60 minutes reviewing reverse mortgage loans, the Predatory Home Loan Practices Act, and prohibited practices under Massachusetts laws and regulations. Additionally, students will spend 30 minutes reviewing unique state law provisions, including the Community Reinvestment Act, foreclosure prevention options, and foreclosure-related services. This course meets the 3-hour Massachusetts-specific pre-licensing education requirement for loan originators and offers a thorough review of the information and laws that license applicants must understand in order to make, broker, or originate loans in compliance with Massachusetts law.
